Whenever art and science clash, something beautiful is bound to emerge, and that is what is on display in Magnetic Movie, the second film in our 10 Films 10 Days Series. This film is a collision between NASA Space Sciences Laboratories and Semiconductor Films, a unique studio using digital animation to reveal the physical world in flux: cities in motion, shifting landscapes, and systems in chaos.

Magnetic Movie makes the ambitious attempt to visualize the intangible discoveries of today’s best scientists. Their explanations lay score to scenes of empty labs where these discoveries play out as erratic experiments that slowly grow out of control—a fitting analogy to the discoveries themselves.
