No, unfortunately not a film by Paul Rand, but the next best thing—a film about Paul Rand! By all rights I should let Andrew introduce this Short of the Moment since he is the designer in house, but even if you aren’t a designer and don’t recognize the name, chances are you recognize the work. This a short piece by the studio Imaginary Forces that combines motion graphics with interview footage of Mr. Rand before his death in 1996. (Like there would be interview footage after his death? <sigh>)

Mr. Rand speaks of the fundamentals of design, and the animation attempts to illustrate his words in the simple, direct style of his work. It is a rather daunting undertaking to attempt to illustrate the work of a graphic legend with motion graphics, but by and large the team pulls it off well. At under 5 minutes it is easily worth a watch. Enjoy!
