Continuing what has become a beloved tradition, today kicked off the National Film Board of Canada’s Online Short Film Contest. We let you know about it last year too, but if you’re unfamiliar here’s the deal: the NFB picks 10 short films, tosses them up on YouTube for a limited time and then declares a winner based upon how many “likes” the videos received.
The 10 films this year have been culled by short film programmer extraordinaire Danny Lennon from participants at the Cannes Short Film Corner. This out-of-competition event is probably the largest short film market in the world, where a bunch of industry types and creators rub shoulders. Needless to say, the quality of the films tends to be very high, and if history is any guide, a few of these films won’t show up online again. Therefore don’t procrastinate! Watch! Voting is open from May 4th – May 17th
