With the sixth month now past, we officially see ourselves halfway through 2021, with 125 short films already featured on our platform so far this year. June saw us showcase 18 shorts, ranging from three-minute experimental animations to 20-minute thrillers, alongside a number of articles including a look at Asia’s largest short film festival, a Q&A with new short film distributor Dedza, updates from previously featured filmmakers, the latest short film to series adaptation and the story of a school play saved by a short film.

As is often the case, the array of films we featured over the month covered a variety of subjects from conservative parents learning to accept a trans child, to attending your first orgy and even a graphic educational film made for the police. Christy by Brendan Canty

Battling it out with Round and Round and The Orgy to be our most-watched film in June, Canty’s 15-minute Irish dramedy proved our most popular pick of the month. Now being developed into the feature, we look forward to seeing where the filmmaker can take his narrative with a lengthier runtime.
