As our YouTube channel continues to expand, we’ve been exploring ways to transfer some of our editorial angles from our website into video content. This month, we took our first steps in that direction as we published our interview with director Tim Egan, where we discussed his short film Curve. This is the first in a series where we sit down with directors from some of our most talked-about films and ask them the most popular questions from the comments section. If there are any of our featured films that you’re keen to learn more about, let me know in the comment below — Rob Munday, Managing Editor

Into the Blue by Ömer Sami
Tatheer is going away for a week, but not to your typical camp for teenagers. Instead, she’s attending a Police bootcamp – a program specifically designed for girls from a social housing estate in Copenhagen. In his short documentary, Into the Blue, director Ömer Sami takes us to the woods to spend the week with Tatheer, and the other girls, offering us the opportunity to discover this unusual initiative through the eyes of a 12-year-old girl, as she navigates her place within the group.

Opulent Round Edible Object by Evan Forrest Mann
Aboy who discovers a glitch that allows him to trade cotton balls for cookies, sets off a series of events that are altogether whimsical and surreal in Evan Forrest Mann’s (Voyage of the Galactic Space Dangler) Opulent Round Edible Object. As bizarre as the premise might sound, Mann’s film – featuring a blend of live-action, stop-motion animation, and some incredible sloth costumes – delivers one of the most enjoyable viewing experiences you’ll find on Short of the Week this year. You may not know where the story is going, but you’ll certainly enjoy the ride.

Rules by Jeanette Jeanenne
Society, with people living together, relies on a code of conduct to ensure a certain harmony and prevent chaos. These rules, whether clearly laid out or implied through common courtesy, are generally respected by most. Even though we occasionally take pleasure in breaking them. S/W alum Jeanette Jeanenne (Trusts & Estates) is back on the website with Rules, a series of animated vignettes that humorously depict the infringement of these rules, simultaneously triggering anger and satisfaction.
