BMW is of course no stranger to short film, they set the standard for branded short filmmaking with their amazing The Hire series in 2001 and 2002. They are back this time with Activate the Future, a 4-part documentary series regarding sustainable mobility.

“Wherever You Want To Go” is the first release under BMW Documentaries—a new franchise dedicated to crafting original, thought-provoking and entertaining content. The film aims to take audiences to a place they’ve truly never been: the future. From the minds of some of the most influential scientists, academics, pioneers, and entrepreneurs of our time, this four-part documentary paints a unique picture of technology, culture, cities, our past, present and how it all relates to the future of mobility.”

Part 1 is online today and is pretty neat, including interviews with people like Buzz Aldrin, famous futurist Syd Mead and top executives at a lot of forward-thinking companies like Zipcar and Google. This segment deals with how the evolution of the the way we live—our cities, our homes, will effect the future of mobility. Kurt Mattila directs, and the campaign is a product of KBS+P New York.  I’m looking forward to the next chapters.
