If you live in the US, UK or Canada, you may be able to see the live-action, animated and documentary Oscar-nominated short film programs in a theater near you starting today.

Shorts International is again the driving force behind this great series. Head over to their website to see if the programs play near you, or, since the site interface is a little crappy, check out this spreadsheet with all the theater locations instead.

The documentary program is new this year, and is playing different and fewer theaters than the live-action and animation programs. The films in the animation program are a bit shorter so two supplemental films will be added—Bill Plympton’s The Cow Who Wanted to be a Hamburger and Moritz Mayerhofer’s German student-short Urs (no full-version, but see a ton of making-of features at the link).

Make it out to a screening if you can, nothing replicates that theater-experience. All the shorts will be available for sale starting Feb. 22 in the iTunes stores if you can’t make it out however. In the meantime you can get a free taste of what to expect from the programs in our post  Watch Oscar Short Films Nominees.
