Back in February, we launched Short of the Week 4.0, our biggest redesign since our launch 8 years ago. The change brought key innovations like beautiful full-screen playback and a completely responsive design all wrapped in a bold, new layout designed to highlight great films and the innovative filmmakers behind them.
But whenever you make 1,000 new decisions, it’s likely you’ll get a few wrong—or at least, not as right as you’d like. So, over the past months we’ve been hard at working gathering feedback and making key changes to round out the rough edges and improve the overall experience. Today we bring you SOTW 4.1, our biggest update since 4.0.
What’s New in 4.1
- Homepage & Channel Pages—More prominent feature of latest film and easy play button
- Channels Page—More visually browsable and lists of all the categories that are easier to parse
- Typography & Formatting—Improved readability and more compact lists for faster browsing
- Watched Films—You’ll now see a checkmark on the upper right of films that you’ve already watched making it simple to scan for unwatched films.
- Paging Controls—More control over jumping to specific pages with the More control at the bottom of every page.
- Filmmaker Links—web links on film pages.
- Bug Fixes—Many, many, many—including support for private mode in iOS and fixes for YouTube videos that weren’t loading correctly.
We want to thank everyone who wrote in with their feedback and suggestions to make SOTW the best destination for short films. If you have any suggestions for us, our inbox is always open!
