Having followed the Loading Docs initiative for 10-years, ever since we first featured The Jump from Season One, these New Zealand documentaries have become a staple in our regular programming over the years. Since 2014, Loading Docs has supported nearly 200 filmmakers, with their short films being showcased at festivals worldwide and featured on platforms like Short of the Week, The New Yorker, and others.
To celebrate this milestone, we spoke to Founder and Executive Producer Julia Parnell, to discuss how the vision for Loading Docs has developed over the years:
“It’s been extraordinary to witness how Loading Docs has grown over the past ten years. What began as a dream to showcase Kiwi documentaries to audiences everywhere has far exceeded our expectations. With over 19 million views to date, these films have built a strong community of filmmakers dedicated to telling stories that are uniquely New Zealand and universally relatable. I’m proud and humbled to see how far we’ve come and excited to see how this tenth collection resonates.”
