Sundance is here! Yours truly will be attendance for the first time, but, as it's been for the last 6 years, all of you at home can partake in the excitement too through the Sundance Online Short Film Program. After a two year collaboration with YouTube, the festival has moved to giant content portal Yahoo! and their relatively new video platform Yahoo! Screen.

Yesterday afternoon saw the announcement of Sundance's short film lineup for 2014, 66 short films that will play Park City this upcoming January. The competition was fierce, with a revealed total of 8,141 submissions, but, of the myriad things you could do to catch the fleeting but powerful attention of a programmerwrite a great script, discover an amazing subject, or cast a big starkeeping your short film offline, sight unseen, conferred no advantage.
Via CNet, I've learned that the National Film Board of Canada, that awesome sponsor of innumerable award-winning short films, is now offering over 500 films available for viewing on your iPhone via their new iPhone app. Both the films and the app are free.
